Well, I'm back. I had a family trip over the weekend. It was nice to get away for a few days and catch up with everyone. I'm glad to be home, though.

I'm incredibly behind on my camp nanowrimo story. I've got 40 odd hours to write just over 5000 words. *gulps* I'm determined to do it, though. This is by far the longest time I’ve spent writing anything and it’s exponentially longer than anything I’ve ever written. I'm still really emotionally invested in the story and excited to tell it. I've never felt like this about anything I've written before, so I hope something good will come out of it.

I rediscovered some of my Tamora Pierce books while I was at my mother's house. I've been absolutely tearing though them. She was my first favourite author and I read her books more times than I can count while I was growing up. It's making me feel excited about reading again.

Sorry this is so rambly and all over the place, I am a sleepy Lenny. I hope you're all doing well.

Pew pew pew!

letlive. musings

letlive. has been one of my favourite bands pretty much since I stumbled across The Sick, Sick 6.8 Billion a couple of years ago. They've just released their second album, The Blackest Beautiful. I've had it for a while and I just wanted to share some thoughts.

Banshee was a brilliant first single. It's big, energetic, aggressive and catchy as fuck, scream along from start to finish. Classic letlive. The album as a whole, though, is a massive step up from Fake History. It's far more mature, there's a lot more diversity in the song writing and it really allows everyone in the band to show off their musicianship. Jason in particular really shows off his incredible vocal skills far more than he has in the past. His lyrics are as blunt and emotive as ever, and he's still using words in the way only Jason Butler can.

That Fear Fever is the obvious choice for a follow up single, with The Dope Beat as an outside guess. While they're both great tracks, I'd like to see them go with something different. I'd love to see Younger shown off, or even something like Pheromone Cvlt. Something to really show off how they've grown as a band.

it's probably time for a bit of an update of what i've been up to over the past couple of years.

i graduated from journalism and decided i really didn't want to be a journalist. i started doing a bit more drawing and web design and was able to get a full time web design job a few months after graduating. i'm still working the same job. it has ups and downs, but even during the downs it's still a job i enjoy. i work from home, with my boyfriend, i couldn't want anything more than that.

i still live on the gold coast, but i'm planning to move when my lease ends at the end of the year. i've started learning how to sword fight, it's really fun. i've also started miniature painting and wargaming and i love it. i've also just started playing dungeons and dragons. i've watched though nearly the entirety of star trek, reboot doctor who and the x files. i'm also doing camp nanowrimo this month, i'm at 18 000 words or so, my goal is 30 000 and i'm hopeful of finishing.

that's about it, really.

what's everyone else up to?
